In planning a funeral to reflect on family traditions or the chosen
lifestyle of the deceased Burkin Svendsens Funeral Directors is
completely open to cater to your wishes and requirements.
These are some suggestions to help you in the planning stages.
A Memorial Book containing details of the funeral and the names of all who attended
can be prepared for each family.
Photos and Memorabilia which can be placed on the coffin or near the Memorial
Book.
Powerpoint Photo Presentation - We create a presentation of 20-30 photos of your
loved one's life displayed on screen to a song of your choice during the funeral
service.
Placement of Articles in the Coffin. Adults and children alike often find it helpful to
place a note, a photo or other appropriate items inside the coffin at the viewing. If a
viewing is not required our staff will ensure that the placements are made.
Jewellery - It is a very personal decision.
Viewing -The viewing of a loved one after death can be of tremendous value to
family and friends. A time of strengthening and assisting the family to face the
reality of death. As a general rule, the family and friends should not be prevented
from viewing, nor should they be forced to do so. It is advisable for each individual
to make a personal decision and our staff will be pleased to offer support to
those who wish to say their farewells.
Music- To many families, the inclusion of favourite hymns or pieces of music add
meaning to a funeral service. We have a large selection of music you can choose
from or we are happy to play your own CD or tape.
Eulogy I Family Tribute - This presentation is often a unique aspect in personalising a
funeral service.
Poetry- Something appropriate to the person's life can add further meaning to the
service.
Orders of Service - We can prepare an Order of Service personalised with photos and
poetry.
Thankyou Cards - When Order of Service booklets are not required, a Thankyou Card
is often chosen to be handed out at the service, this is also personalised with photos
and poetry. A nice idea is to send the cards to people who are not able to attend the
service or as a thank you for floral tributes and other expressions of sympathy you
may receive.
Flowers - A floral tribute can vary from a single rose to a spray of favourite flowers
covering the entire top of the coffin. Rose petals and single flowers can be placed at
all types of services.
RSL & Masonic Services - These can be arranged on request and we will liaise with
the appropriate clubs or representatives.
Doves! Balloons - The releasing of doves or balloons at the conclusion of the service
can symbolise the loved one joining those who have gone before.
Video I Audio! Photographs - Recording of the funeral is often requested this
permanent record is particularly appreciated by relatives or friends unable to attend.
Pallbearers (when required) - It is the family's right to choose those who will have
the honour of accepting this duty.
Your ideas and wishes can make the Service unique and meaningful.
